WE LOVE NEW PROJECTS!
Paying it forward.
No matter who you are, stepping up to shape your community is more than a selfless act, it's a strong expression of hope. So whether you're leading or supporting local leaders, Fairmont is stronger for it. Stand Up 4Fairmont to make your community a happier, healthier place!
How does an idea get moving?
It starts with an email, phone call or face-to-face chat. Let us know what you'd like to share with your neighbors and we'll do some legwork for you in partnership with Main Street Fairmont. We'll make a few calls to people who can lift up your idea and get everyone to the table. After we make a few initial connections and set a date, we'll announce your idea at a 4Fairmont meeting and a work session will begin. We'll offer some leadership tips to help you keep your idea moving, and you'll have community support from others in your community who believe that everything is possible!
How does it work?
The session kicks off with a facilitator calling for general announcements and introducing the work session topics. If there are multiple projects, advocates move to the tables (work session topics) that they'd like to support. Sometimes, we host a brief presentation to the entire group. These presentations are usually made by local groups advocating for growth in Fairmont and seldom last beyond 15 or 20 minutes.
How long are the meetings?
This answer varies from group to group and definitely shifts throughout the development of an idea. On average, our meetings are about an hour. Don't let time commitments keep you from getting involved. For folks who can't spare more than a few minutes, you can quickly connect with the group, get an update and a few to-do items, and hit the road. You don't need to commit to a certain length of time.
